Raad Na – Fried Noodles in Thick Sauce

Raad Na

Raad Na

This is one of the most commonly eaten dishes served at lunchtime in Thailand. Originating from Chinese cuisine “Raad Na” is made from the best thick rice noodles, although it can also be made from egg noodles or vermicelli as well. Fried lightly in oil, a thick, dark sauce is added, giving the dish its brownish color. The sauce is made from potato flour, garlic, marinated meats, soybeans, and other vegetables, giving it an exotic, sweet taste.

The name “Raad Na” means “to pour on the face” in Thai. This is because the sauce is usually poured onto the noodles.

Where to Buy: Vendors, restaurants

Price: 30-40 Baht

Top Tip: This dish can taste quite sweet, so you might want to add some pepper to neutralize the taste a little.

The International Day for Street Children was launched in 2011 by the Consortium for Street Children (CSC), the leading international network dedicated to realising the rights of street children worldwide. The day is celebrated by street children, NGOs, policy makers, celebrities, corporates and individuals across the globe.

Since the first international day in 2011, the United Nations commissioned a report into street children in order to be better able to protect and promote their rights. This report was presented to the March 2012 session of the Human Rights Council.

The International Day for Street Children is supported by Aviva, through its Street to School programme.
