This place signifies the undaunted spirit of the Thai people that was lived by its founders and heroes. Thonburi<\/strong> was once the capital of Thailand for fifteen years before the capital was moved to Bangkok across the Chao Phraya river in 1782.\u00a0 During those times, it was constantly at war. Pra Chao Taksin was the great one who brought the liberty for the Thai people and he was the one who established this enigmatic place to become the capital city. This leader had what it took to free his countrymen and finally mend broken things for a better community.<\/p>\n

A monument was raised in the year 1954 in Thonburi<\/strong>. This monument was called King Taksin Monument in honor of this great King Pra Chao Taksin. This king united the Thai kingdom after the momentous fall of the reign of Ayutthaya. His leadership drove out the Burmese invader troops.<\/p>\n

There also lies the famed Golden Swan<\/em>. The Golden Swan is a beauty to behold and one of the attractions that Thonburi<\/strong> have. It is located at The Royal Barges Museum. This museum has an incredible collection of boats that were used during the reign of King Taksin.\u00a0 The Golden Swan is the king\u2019s personal barge so you can imagine that this boat is very grand compared to other boats.<\/p>\n

Thonburi<\/strong> is a strategically situated place west of the Chao Phraya River. This place described in a few words is an incredible destination because there are complex systems of canals and marvelous displays of historical buildings.<\/p>\n

You can also see many people at the Northern part of Thonburi<\/strong> where you can find Phahonyothin<\/span><\/a><\/span>. This place is the location of the vibrant Chatuchak Weekend Market where many people, local and tourists buy and sell various products.
