Yesterday we went on yet another daytrip to Kanchanaburi in western Thailand. This time to check out Sayok Elephant Camp and Erawan Falls.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Erawan<\/a><\/p>\n

We will report on the elephant camp later, but today’s topic is Erawan Waterfalls<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Erawan Falls<\/strong> is located in Erawan National Park in Kanchanaburi. It is said to be the most beautiful set of waterfalls in all of Thailand. I don’t know about that as I still have a few to see before I can pass my personal judgment but it was certainly worth the trip.<\/p>\n

We lingered too long sightseeing, riding elephants and taking a bamboo raft trip on the river to go up to the 7th level of the falls. Yeah that’s right, 7 waterfalls in succession bouldering down the steep hill.<\/p>\n

\"Erawan<\/a><\/p>\n

We arrived there shortly before 16:00 and by then they had closed the access to the 3rd level. That was too bad as we had heard that the best waterfall is located near the top.<\/p>\n

I walked right passed the first level so that wasn’t too impressing, but the 2nd waterfall was nice. The water was cool and refreshing after a day in the blistering sun and about 37 degrees celsius. By the time we got there most of the other visitors had left or were leaving so we got the place practically to ourselves. Considering we went there on a Sunday it turned out to be a good move to be there late.<\/p>\n

\"Erawan<\/a><\/p>\n

The only part of this excursion to Erawan Falls<\/strong> that I didn’t like was the fish. The pool below the waterfall was full of them and as soon as I stuck my foot in the water they started nibbling away. It didn’t hurt at all but the feeling of having dozens of fish picking at my feet was a little unsettling.<\/p>\n\n\n

It would probably have been better to go there in the rainy season or shortly after when the water levels are higher but there was plenty of water and we got some nice pictures, don’t you think?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
