Baiyoke Sky Hotel<\/strong> was, when it was completed in 1997, the tallest building in the world.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeing the tallest Baiyoke Sky Hotel from our place<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Nowadays it is “only” the tallest building in Thailand (Ocean Tower 1 in Pattaya, supposed to be finished in 2012, is going to be bigger but I have serious doubts that it will ever be built).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Standing 328 meters tall with 85 floors and 673 rooms, not counting the many facilities, it dominates the Bangkok skyline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baiyoke Sky Hotel <\/strong>is situated in my favorite area of Bangkok, namely Pratunam . The wholesale textile market of Pratunam<\/a> <\/span><\/span>is right outside the door, and past that the shopping malls are lined up: Platinum, Panthip Plaza, Central World, Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon, MBK (the list goes on and on) are all within walking distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were there a little while ago to get some scenic pictures. Too bad we went at night because from the revolving deck on the 84th floor it was almost impossible to get any good pictures since we were always moving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baiyoke Sky <\/strong>has the best view in Bangkok in my opinion, even surpassing Sirocco’s Sky Bar and the Moon bar at the Banyan Tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was easier to get better pictures from the observation deck on the 77th floor, although the windows were quite greasy with hand prints. On the observation deck there are also some displays and a nice little model of the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had to pass the Rooftop bar (on the 83rd floor) to get up to the observation deck.  Next time I go to Baiyoke Sky Hotel <\/strong>I will definitely have a drink there while enjoying the view from the tallest building in Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
