At the farm, you\u2019ll hop into designated trolleys and cruise around, giving you an opportunity to see exotic fruit trees being grown. The farm also grows organic vegetables and on the tour, you\u2019ll have a chance to eat a fresh plate of green papaya salad (som tam) made with ingredients picked right from the farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The orchard grows pomelos, bananas, jackfruit and 3 types of mangos. Upon arriving at the orchard you will be greeted by the owners and served a sampling of the fruits from the orchard. This area is known as the best area for growing pomelos in Thailand. It is believed that this has to do with the river being tidal during the dry season resulting in slightly brackish water. The jackfruits harvested are 5kg on average but the largest specimen ever harvested on this farm is an incredible 30kg! The orchard also produces dried banana and jackfruit chips which you can also buy there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thailand is the biggest exporter of orchids in the world. No wonder they also have lotus and orchid farm inside which is about 5 hectares. Orchids only require water to grow. They do not require any nutrients from the ground as all orchids are grown either suspended in the air in baskets with the roots hanging down below or in dried coconut\/charcoal containers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also take the local boat trip to see the local people living along the Mahasawat canal and go to see the agricultural farms of this area of the west of BKK such as lotus farms and that lovely orchids farms and indulge the local foods of this area has to offer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

By Car: Khlong Mahasawat is around 50 km from Bangkok, and is easily reached by the Nakhon Chaisi Motorway. Look for Mahidol University\u2019s Salaya Campus, and the canal is signposted at the end of Putthamonthon Sai 4.<\/p>\n

By Train: Trains stop directly at Wat Suwannaram and run on the Thon Buri Lang Suan Line.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Thailand is a serious fruit lovers\u2019 paradise, and it would be a shame to miss out on all the juicy fruits the country has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
