Bangkok Shopping Scene: Seacon Banana Fair

So to Seacon I went to see about this banana festival, and while there were plenty of bananas they were by no means everything there was to see. Not even the majority really.

I love the ambiance of the traditional Thai marketplace, but as someone who spent nearly two years in a wheelchair recovering from an accident I am all too sensitive to the challenges that many of the outdoor markets pose to the elderly, injured or otherwise somewhat short of spry, and I think that this is about as close as you can get to the real thing without deadly potholes and shoulder-to-shoulder crowds. And there is obviously quite a bit that a mall offers a traditional market cannot, so it is an excellent marriage of shopping experiences.

The smells and sights that jump out at you seem almost out of place in such a massive and modern shopping mall, but this is Thailand after all. Here was a cart blasting morlam music and grilling up some goodness.

And as always some incredible looking desserts…….

And while this may not have anything at all to do with bananas, it was ten different kinds of delicious………grilled bacon-wrapped mushrooms!
